The Community Affairs Network meeting presents a valuable opportunity for us to engage in a dialogue regarding our collective strengths and areas where support is required as grassroots organizations. The CAN's Network aims to establish a cohesive support system in Massachusetts.

Our group offers a supportive environment for families who have experienced the loss of a loved one due to a substance use related cause, other causes and their friends. Through the provision of tools and resources, we assist individuals in processing their grief and trauma, ultimately empowering them to find healing and meaning in their journey. Additionally, we offer guidance in navigating systems that may not always prioritize the unique needs of grieving families. We welcome mothers, fathers, siblings, and friends to participate in our services.
MADMOMS and community members convene monthly for in-person meetings in a confidential and non-judgmental environment in Dorchester Ctr. This safe space fosters open sharing of feelings, mutual support, and collaborative advocacy for change. It is a platform where individuals are encouraged to share personal stories and collectively address community concerns to explore solutions and promote well-being.
Our mission at MADMOMS Read to Achieve for Drug Free Communities, in partnership with BPL is to educate and empower children through literature about substance use awareness. By providing valuable information through books, we aim to help children make informed decisions, resist peer pressure, and recognize warning signs of addiction and substance use disorder. Through prevention efforts, we strive to support children in avoiding harmful patterns of drug and alcohol use and promoting a drug-free community.
MADMOMS aims to educate communities through the art of storytelling and songwriting, specifically focusing on the impact of drug and substance use within the rap music genre. By highlighting the potential consequences of such lifestyles, including involvement with the criminal justice system and mortality, we have recognized rap music as a valuable tool for initiating conversations and reflections on social justice issues. Our objective is to facilitate dialogue within the community, encouraging individuals to share their perspectives and insights, while raising awareness of how rap music can resonate with their personal experiences.
